Often it will need some time for free submission to appear at directory, but eventually it will be worth. And btw make sure to add different title and description text for almost each directory. Putting the same text can lead that search engines see your site as unnatural from these backlinks.

Trackbacks and traffic

This is the new way of link exchanging in blogosphere world. A trackback immediately lets other blog author know you just wrote something about them and linked to them. You want to open account on some site (here is an example with Yahoo) and you do not have to type anything, just float over “generate” button in the installed toolbar in your browser and small window will pop out. Whenever you click on “generate” roboform will create new password, and with just one click on “fill” button it will fill password space on that particular page.

And while logging in for the first time, roboform will pop out and ask you to save details for you. You can save it or not. If you save details, when next time you land on that page, roboform will recognize that site, and all you have to do is to click on the button in the browser (in this case “Yahoo” button), and it will fill your user name and password. Even better, you can login to that site directly from your browser, without visiting the login page (in the toolbar: Logins - Yahoo).

These screenshots are from my second computer, where you can see only Yahoo. On the first one I have the whole list of sites. • For images, only use .jpg or .gif file formats;

Can images bring me free search engine traffic?

Google spiders will not crawl image, Google will crawl text behind the image. Make sure you enable enhanced image search on your site. Find how to do that here.

To get search engine traffic images need alternative, or ALT, text assigned to them (implementing keywords there, but do not use too many to be considered as spam). This is because spiders can’t register images, but rather read the alternative text set to them.

Google webmaster tool is explaining how properly to set your titles and images alt text.

Where can I get free images for my blog posts?

Its easy. You can use photo sharing sites like flickr or photobucket, or like I explained at the post Trackback Now, or You’ll Hate Yourself Later you can use Zemanta tool, which suggest images for you, while you are typing in the WordPress editor.

Why I need images in my blog posts?

If above is not enough here are 5 reasons you should definitely consider adding images to your blog posts or pages:

• Images append impact to the content on your site, making your pages visually appealing. They create an impression more quickly than a text.

• Images make a positive impression, illustrating a point, so visitant is more expected to stay on the site.

• ”one image speaks thousand words” and evoke a chain of emotions. Those way visitors will stay longer on the site.

• Images break up your text on the page and get in easier to read

• Images can be tagged with your important keyword bringing supplemental traffic to your site or blog. And this traffic is totally isolated from your text content.

And additionally to everything above, and some kind of encouragement to new bloggers, WordPress makes adding images very easy. If you didn’t used images or just rarely do that, I think this article will persuade you in opposite.

What Are Google Alerts?

Google Alerts are email updates of the newest content you are interested and you specify with service Google Alert – free to use service. That can be any topic or keyword.

I found this service is very useful to stay focused in the market. Most common uses of Google Alerts include: monitoring a developing news story, or industry, taking the latest on a celebrity or event, keeping eye on your favorite sports teams, or what ever you want.

Best of all, it can be used to give you post ideas for the blog, notifying and keeping your readers informed. And, as I said, here is vital that content is coming to you, to your email account. Yesterday I discovered how your website can play “ugly” game with you, along with search engine. These all addresses search engines are seeing like a different URLs, no matter they open the same page:

http://example.com/index.html
http://www. example.com
http://www. example.com/
http://www. example.com/index.htm

If you or other people are linking to your Internet site using a diversity from these similar URL’s, you’ll not only be thinning PR(Page-Rank) on your site, but in addition to that you’ll suffer the risk of having your content marked as duplicate. Once Google sees all the multiple versions of your domain name their spiders examines which page to rank, and all the rest directs into the supplemental index.

Typing this in Google:

I discovered that this URL (web2whizzing.com/) is considered as duplicate.

Every page listed in this search, Google has placed in supplemental index. And that means they can barely bring search engine traffic. They just pick randomly which links to place in supplement order. This means that all above links are actually sharing page rank for the one page.
To check it for your website, just replace yours instead of my domain name.

Google Webmasters Tools

It is probably whole month I am telling myself i will go to this page Google webmasters tools dashboard to check all this things.

… ok, I went today after watching the mentioned youtube video, and it is excellent additional adjustment to this problem. Here is what to do:

• Go to the Google Webmasters page, and verify your website,

• Pick “tools” option from menu,

• And choose “set preferred domain”.

This is the process to pick up the preferred URL, and that way Google will only index the page you select.
