Technorati is currently tracking 112.8 million blogs and over 250 million pieces of tagged social media. According to this report back in 2005 Technorati had tracked 14.2 Million weblogs in July 2005. That’s whopping leap of about 100 million new blogs in exactly 3 years (it is July 2008 now). In the same article has been reported that new blog is created about every second and about 55% weblogs are active, with about 13 % frequently updated (at least weekly).
Blogs or weblogs are powerful because they allow millions of people to publish easily and share their ideas. Publisher is building relationship with readers, and blogs are great traffic generator and that is certainly important for every online business. Even if they have good topic idea, unfortunately many people encounter obstacles and fail in creating the successful blog.
From the report we can see that about half of blogs are dead, and not so large percentage are frequently updated. The thing I want to stress is so many attempts and obviously fails. My conclusion is that trouble is in technical issues or lack of content ideas. In that purpose I have created, assembled and paved step by step blogging guide, and named it successful blogging. The guide is crossing from creating a first weblog to traffic and writing tips, with video tutorials covering WordPress SEO optimization.
My focus is on WordPess as a weblog publishing platform, so sorry if you’re using other platforms, only I can suggest that you think about switch to WordPress, because WordPress is the best.
Further I am preparing similar tutorials for web 2.0 communities. There is a right and wrong way for web 2.0 business promotion, where many people do not see difference between Social Media Advertising and Social Media Marketing. Meantime you can browse through web 2.tools I found useful.
